Background

Dr. Strauss practiced family medicine in Kelowna for 10 years before making the switch to a Hospitalist position with Kelowna General Hospital. He completed his undergraduate degree with a double major in Microbiology and Immunology from Dalhousie University. Dr. Strauss attended medical school at St. George’s University School of Medicine via the Global Scholars Program. He completed his first year at Newcastle University in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England. Dr. Strauss completed his second year in St. George, Grenada.

He completed his final years of medical school in Brooklyn, N.Y.  

Dr. Strauss attended the University at Buffalo SUNY for his Family Medicine Residency where he was recognized and awarded for his dedication, work ethic and excellence in his practice.  Dr. Strauss completed special interests in Dermatology and Sports Medicine.

Following residency, Dr. Strauss worked in rural New Zealand as a full scope family practitioner.

Panel Physician for Immigration Canada

Since 2018, Dr. Strauss is an approved panel physician for IRCC. The office dedicates a tremendous amount of effort in ensuring the smoothest track for your physical exam, chest x-ray, and appropriate blood work. Dr. Strauss and his staff are strong advocates for your care during this process and understand how stressful this process can be. They are able to guide you and provide information about local specialists in Kelowna if needed.

We are able to provide resources to obtain your x ray in a different city should this be a convenience for you. Please complete the form below. Please do not call our office as we are extremely busy trying to accommodate everyone. We will do our best to call you within 48 business hours. Keep in mind we are closed on Fridays.

An update from IRCC: “If you are in Canada and you have already completed an IME as part of a previous application, you may be exempt from completing another one if you meet certain conditions. Refer to IRCC for more information: Medical exams – Immigration - Canada.ca”

Investigator for Medical Arts Clinical Research for Clinical Trials

Dr. Strauss works as either a Principle Investigator or Subinvestigator for Medical Arts. These are medications undergoing double-blinded clinical trials. He is responsible for reviewing inclusion and exclusion criteria for potential candidates, reviewing testing completed for the study by the patient, and performing physical exams and medication administration for the study participants.
